About the course

Relatively new in the US, European Style Nymphing (ESN) is our preferred technique for fishing technical rivers and streams, like the Truckee River. It requires a completely different set of skills and gear, but it’s our specialty and we’ll teach you how.

While using our ESN gear, a half-day guided trip with us will teach you basic methodology, casting and dead-drifting skills to catch more fish using this effective tightline technique.

And with a full day, or multi-day trip, you’ll learn more advanced tightine casting skills, alternative rigging, fly choice, and how and when to improvise using dry flies, streamers, and indicators on tightline gear. This is where we show you some secrets!

Note:

Euro nymph / Tightline fly fishing is the most effective way to catch fish in technical waters, but it can be challenging for beginners to learn. For this reason, we recommend that clients wishing to learn tightline skills have some previous fly fishing experience. If not, we’ll make do.
