About wade fishing

If you’re new to fly-fishing, our half day walk and wade trips will get you started on the right path to catching river trout with tried-and-true gear and techniques. While full day trips expand into advanced casting, dead-drifting and line control required to cover more diverse water types. Full day trips allow more time to discuss deeper fly fishing tactics and to practice safe and effective techniques of fighting, netting and releasing wild trout.

If you're an experienced fly angler who wants to learn how to Euro nymph / Tightline fish, then you’ve come to the right place.

ESN (European Style Nymphing) is our preferred technique for fishing technical rivers and streams, like the Truckee River, and requires a completely different set of skills and gear, but it’s our specialty.

Using an ESN rod, reel, and line, a half day guided trip with us will teach you basic methodology, casting and dead-drifting skills to catch more fish using tightline techniques.

With a full day or multi-day tightline guided trip you’ll learn more advanced casting skills, alternative rigging and how and when to improvise using dry flies, streamers, and indicators on tightline gear.

Tightline fishing is the most effective and versatile method of fly fishing but it can be challenging for beginners to learn while they try to absorb all the regular aspects of fly fishing. For this reason, we recommend that clients wishing to learn or improve their tight-line skills have previous fly fishing experience.
